The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), through the Bataan Provincial Youth Council (PYC), in cooperation with Bataan Youth Development Office (BYDO), Sangguniang Kabataan, Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP), and other partner agencies held yesterday, August 17, the on-site celebration of the 2022 Youth Congress.
In support of the International Youth Day celebration, this year’s Congress focused on sharing insights, awareness, and knowledge on pertinent issues confronting the youth such as Mental Health, Teenage Pregnancy, and HIV-AIDS.
Bataan Population Commission Officer Rosana Verdida, shared that many cases of teenage pregnancy occur among youth ages 10 to 14. She likewise emphasized that abortion is not a responsible choice for it only leaves lifetime painful memories for teenagers.
Meanwhile, Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital (MMWGH) Health Education and Promotion Officer Jojie Maglaqui discussed the effects of the pandemic on mental health among youth while a representative of Positive Outlook on Spreading Hope (POSH) Bataan discussed insights about HIV-AIDS.
Former Board Member Dr. Godofredo Galicia who now serves as Consultant on Universal Health Care (UHC) Law implementation and health promotion, together with Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bataan Committee on Women, Children, and Family Chairperson Hon. Maria Margarita Roque discussed some of the programs of the province that are beneficial to the youth.
